Sacramento New Technology High School (SNTHS) is a District Charter in the Sacramento City Unified School District. Located in the Freeport Manor neighborhood in Sacramento, SNTHS is designed for 500 students in grades 9-12. SNTHS opened with 250 students in 9th and 10th grades on September 2, 2003.
Sacramento NTHS High School reaches out to students that have the ability to be successful in school but are not motivated by traditional curriculums. The school's mission is to provide a unique learning environment for its student population.
SNTHS is designed around the principles that it will:
- Be a small school of 500 students enrolled in grades 9-12
- Encourage individual interests and responsibility through Project-Based Learning
- Accept students of all levels and graduate students at high levels
- Maintain a one to one ratio of students and computers
- Foster a business like culture that values learning at high levels Embrace diversity
- Prepare all graduates for college and/or living wage careers
In October 2003, SNTHS was a recipient of one of 19 new charter school start-up grants in California awarded through a competitive application process. Additional support for equipment was provided through a Beaumont Foundation grant.
