New Technology High School, located on the Garinger campus, opened in the fall of 2006 with 9th grade only. It is one of three school that will be located there. It operates as an autonomous school with its own principal, faculty aand staff with an initial student body of 100. The student body will increase each year by 100 until achieving a maximum number of 400.

New Technology High School at Garinger is the result of a joint vision by Charlotte-Mecklenburg School, The New Schools Project, and The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
